Their races are among the most competitive in the country, and winning them is essential to shifting the balance of power and advancing the priorities we care about. Senate Candidates
James Talarico — US Senate, Texas
James Talarico is an eighth-generation Texan, a Presbyterian seminarian, and a young, extremely articulate candidate. He is running in deep Red Texas in which no Democrat has won a Senate seat since 1988. Yet, he is in a virtual dead heat against Ken Paxton, a Trump ally and a seriously flawed candidate.
Jon Ossoff – US Senate, Georgia
Jon Ossoff is the only Democratic senator running for reelection in a state Trump won in 2024. He has held a consistent lead in the polls over his Republican opponent. But Republicans appear to be coming to his rescue. The Senate Leadership Fund pledged millions to flip this seat from blue to red.
Sherrod Brown — US Senate, Ohio
Brown, who served for three terms for in the Senate, is seeking to reclaim his seat from an appointed incumbent. Brown is the only Democrat to win a statewide election in Ohio in the last two decades. He is known as a fighter for working families, affordable healthcare, fair wages, and protections against corporate and special interest influence.
Mary Peltola – US Senate, Alaska
Former Congresswoman and Alaska native Mary Peltola seeks to unseat Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. She previously beat Sarah Palin in a Special House election for the House. A mother of 7 and avid fisher, she has a real shot of capturing this seat for Democats.
Josh Turek — US Senate, Iowa
Josh Turek a former paralympic athlete who was born with spina bifida won the Democratic primary by 26 points. He is running against Trump endorsee, Ashley Hinson to win the seat vacated by Joni Ernst. Given the backlash to tariffs and gas prices in the Hawkeye State, a democratic win is highly likeable. The Cook Political Report recently shifted its rating from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican.”
Roy Cooper — US Senate, North Carolina
The current Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper he has never lost an election. He grew up in the rural part of North Carolina working on his father’s farm. He has been a strong advocate of quality education, jobs and affordable health care. Cooper leads in the polls, offering Democrats a good chance to flip a seat from red to blue.
House Candidates
Amish Shah – Arizona, 1st District
Amish Shah is an emergency room physician running for an open seat currently held by a Republican. He served in the Arizona state house for 4 years. His opponent, a former NFL placekicker, has no background in public service or in the District in which he is running. The District is primarily the suburbs of Phoenix. The race is rated as a tossup.
Jonathan Nez – Arizona, 2nd District
Jonathan Nez is a member of the Navajo Nation which he served for 22 years including a four year term as Chairman. His District is in Northeast Arizona which includes Flagstaff, and is home to 400,000 enrolled members of the Tribe. His opponent has been in the House since 2013 and can be fairly described as an extreme right wing extremist.
Don Davis – North Carolina, 1st District
Don Davis is fighting to serve a second term in what was historically a Democratic-leaning district. However, as a result of redistricting, his seat has been targeted as one which Republicans believe they can flip.
Jamie Ager – North Carolina, 11th District
Jamie seeks to flip a Republican seat against a weak two term incumbent. While a Democrat has not won this District since 2010, the incumbent is deeply unpopular due to Trump’s tariff policies, the war in Iran, Trump’s poor response to Hurricane Helene, and an Ethics Committee investigation for sexual misconduct by incumbent Chuck Edwards.
Marcy Kaptur – 9th District, Ohio
Marcy Kaptur is the longest serving woman In the House of Representatives. As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, she has leveraged her position to support traditional Democratic values. Her seat is vulnerable because the Ohio legislature gerrymandered her district’s boundaries to make it more competitive for Republicans.
Christina Bohannon – Iowa, District 1
Last election cycle, Christina Bohannon lost Iowa’s first district to now incumbent, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, by only 799 votes. Bohannon is a law professor at the University of Iowa and a former state representative. She is running on the the key issues of expanding healthcare, addressing affordability issues and woman’s right to choose, all Republican vulnerabilities. The race is considered a toss-up.
Janelle Stelson – Pennsylvania, District 10
Janelle is the Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent Scott Perry to whom she lost by a mere 5,133 margin in 2024. Perry is one of Congress’ most conservative members, having served as Chair of the House Freedom Caucus. District 10 is in south central Pennsylvania. Harrisburg, the state capital, and York are its two largest cities.
Paige Cognetti – Pennsylvania, District 1
Paige Cognetti won a special election as the first female mayor of Scranton, and has served in that position since 2000, having been reelected twice including in a landslide in 2025. Her Republican opponent, incumbent Congressman Rob Bresnahan flipped this seat in 2024 with only 50.7% of the vote while Trump had a somewhat higher margin at slightly less than 54%. District 8 is in the northeastern section of Pennsylvania with its major cities being Scranton and Wilkes-Barre
Bob Brooks – Pennsylvania, District 7
A retired firefighter, Bob Brooks is a strong contender in this race. The incumbent, Ryan Mackenzie, barely won the seat by slightly more than 1% and a 4,000-vote margin, one of the lowest in the country. Trump won the district by only 51.1%. District 7 includes the Lehigh Valley with its key cities being Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.
Bob Harvie – Pennsylvania, District 1
A long time Bucks County resident who has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Bucks County Commissioners, Bob Harvie is the Democratic challenger in District 1. His opponent is Brian Fitzpatrick, the five term Republican Congressman, one of only three Republicans who won in a district that supported Vice-President Harris over Trump. District1 is In the southeastern part of the state and includes all of Buck’s County and a slice of Montgomery County.
Sarah Trone Garriott – 3rd District, Iowa
Currently a member of the State Senate, Sarah Trone- Garriott is the only Democrat in Iowa over the past few years who has consistently won competitive elections in Republican districts. She aims to flip this seat for Democrats.
Joanna Mendoza – 6th District, Arizona
JoAnna Mendoza (“Jo”) is a 20-year Marine Corps Veteran, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was raised in a farmworker’s family in southern Arizona where she learned the realities of poverty and the power of community.
