Because your vote counts

You Can Vote Fall 2022 Updates:

You Can Vote is mobilizing voters across the state of North Carolina to achieve historic turnout in the Midterm Election this fall! From now until November 8th, You Can Vote is:

  • Raising awareness of expanded voting eligibility for individuals serving punishments for felony convictions in North Carolina but who aren’t behind bars. A recent court decision has expanded voting rights to include more than 56,000 North Carolinians serving probation, parole or post-release supervision sentences. This decision is the largest expansion of voting rights in the state since the Voting Rights Act of 1965. You Can Vote is mobilizing its extensive volunteer and organizing networks to educate newly eligible voters about their rights and register them to vote. Read more about this decision from the Raleigh News & Observer at: https://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/article263877152.html#storylink=cpy.
  • Encouraging youth engagement in our democracy through the 2022 North Carolina Campus Voting Challenge. The North Carolina Campus Voting Challenge is a nonpartisan recognition program for higher education institutions in North Carolina with a commitment to increasing student voter participation and engagement on campuses across the state. North Carolina Campus Engagement and You Can Vote are facilitating this voting challenge in collaboration with the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN), a national nonpartisan initiative of Civic Nation, a 501(c)(3) organization. You Can Vote will provide the “boots on the ground” infrastructure for campus education, training, and Get Out The Vote support among our network of institutional partners, which include the NC Community College System, public and private colleges, and HBCUs across the state. Our network of 30 Civic Fellows embedded on college campuses will also work to empower their peers. Awards will be given for highest campus voter turnout, most improved campus voter turnout, and highest student voter registration rate. Learn more about this initiative at https://www.nccampuschallenge.org/.
  • Providing Voting Rights Ambassadors at 50+ early voting locations across the state. You Can Vote’s Voting Rights Ambassadors program will provide voter protection, voting assistance, and vote tripling for all 17 days of early voting, from October 20th to November 5th. In North Carolina, voters can register and vote the same day during this period at “One-Stop” early voting locations. You Can Vote’s field staff and highly trained volunteers will be there to greet voters outside the polls and assist local Board of Elections staff by answering voter questions and reporting cases of voter intimidation. We will also empower voters to share information on eligibility and same-day registration requirements with their friends and communities, thereby tripling the impact of their vote.

You can help us meet these goals by donating today! You Can Vote needs to raise $350,000 between now and October 20th to meet our Get-Out-The-Vote goals.
